Today we were thinking, drawing, and one group was crafting. But we were all thinking of ideas for our VEX robot it's apperance, if it would have any accessories, and that could change our game plan. There could be more than one accessory but it depends what our final game plan will be.

Today we were controling underwater robots and we had 3 different stations: practice for driving, going through underwater hoops, and picking up rings with a special robot and putting them in a bucket. We also had three OTHER stations: drilling a hole in a little tube, a place to watch videos of Sea Pearch, and a survey about Sea Pearch. Today we were thinking of how the robot should look like. There were three different teams and they all had different ideas so we will try to obtain a compromise so that we can have an excellent idea. We also learned about a few parts that a VEX robot need to have to have a sucessful or beginner robot but later we can get a more advanced robot. Today we mostly started our robot and learning about all the pieces a VEX robot needs to have to be a "robot". We also thought about what accessories our robot could have to help gain points or do other things that could help us during the game. There were many good ideas and then we see which one would help our robot the best. Today we were mostly talking about Sea-Pearch and about the competition and about what a robot that is underwater can do and what it has to do in order to win the competition. It has to do multiple things 1. it has to be able to go underwater 2.it has to be able to stay underwater during the whole competition 3. it has to be able to go through hoops without the wire that is attached to the end of the robot getting tangled up 4. it has to be able to go back up to the surface. Today at the first VEX meeting we watched a video about the rules for this year's competition, VEX Toss Up. Afterwards, we talked about what we liked about VEX and why we wanted to join the team. We tested out two robots, the Squarebot and the Clawbot, and practiced driving them around and going over the bump. |
