Our two middle school SeaPerch teams competed in the Regional Middle School SeaPerch Competition this morning, and both won awards! Nineteen teams played together in four different challenges. One of our teams placed first with their presentation, and one placed first in the Sink the Ship game. A great time was had by all.

In November and December some of our members worked on making stop motion animation videos using the iMotion app on iPads lent to our club by 4-H. Here are some of them! _Team 7843C decided to submit a video to the VEX robotics Online Challenge. They wrote, filmed and edited their video about how their linear lift works. You can see it and vote for it on the REC Foundation website: REC Fountation STEM Educational Video Challenge Today we went to the competition for skills challenge which is like the normal VEX tournament except only you are playing and you try to see how many points you can get by yourself. All the groups their that were in our VEX team, went to the Skills Challenge. Two groups made it there in less time than the last group which had a problem passing inspection and when the time came to go to the Skills Challenge, their robot couldn't move. They fixed the problem; it was better to find the error now the at the VEX Tournament.
Today we are trying to make a machine that doesn't use Programming instead we are using simple machines. Advanced machines are innovations of simple machines (levers, wedges, pulleys, etc.). Our objectives are to make the marble(s) go down the wall that has simple machines that the marble activates or effects the marble to pop balloons!
Only 7843B attended to the Friday meeting, they advanced a lot on their claw and placed the claw in a great place so that it would function on the scissor lift as well as stay under the 18 inches limit for their robot. They also programmed the basic movement for their robot; of course going to be using that as their base and later test drive as well as to see if their are any flaws with the motors or functions of movement.
