Business and Activity Meetings
Our 4-H Club meets on the second and fourth Tuesday evenings of the month from September to May. Club business meetings short and are conducted by the youth executive committee with guidance from adult leaders. The meetings are specifically focused on activities related to the educational and community service objectives set by the club.
The business part of meetings will begin at 7:00 pm and last no longer than 10-15 minutes. Then the activities will last until approximately 8:30 pm. The location is the Mott Community Center (12111 Braddock Rd) in Fairfax.
What are the business meetings like?
Our club uses Parliamentary procedure to run the business meetings. An organized system for discussing topics and making decisions can make the processes more orderly, less frustrating and less time consuming. Decision making systems like parliamentary procedure are especially useful when new groups are forming or when controversial issues are being discussed. Learning to participate effectively in groups discussions and decision making is an important skill young people can use throughout their lives.
